How to increase the speed of the Internet?
The Internet access speed depends on many factors including line quality, modem or the settings of your PC.
Assuming that you have a modem standard advise you to disable Internet while in other applications running on your PC and consume resources such as antivirus. The best option (but more expensive) is recruiting ADSL or ISDN.
If you have reviewed the above and do not get the speed increase I’ll give you a little trick here, but OJO! Carefully … You must be a user with some experience to implement the following:
- If you want to accelerate downloads:
Open SYSTEM.INI (press the right mouse button to open it with Notepad), is in the folder C: \ WINDOWS. Inside the file find the line [386Enh]. Below this, create a new entry called COMxBuffer = 1024 (x is the serial port that your modem is connected). That will create a cache entry which allow time for Internet downloads.
- If you want to increase the speed of the modem:
Open Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \
Class \ Modem \ 000
** The modem can be also under the keys 001, 002? depending on the configuration.
On the right look for the binary value “Properties”. Click on that value and seek to modify the other values (must be on the line beginning with 0018). C2 replace 01 by 10 0E. Do not try to modify any other data.
Close Regedit and restart Windows.
Now, click on Control Panel – Modem – Properties and speed.
They must appear 3 new values. EYE … connecting various tests, depending on the processor of the modem, you may or may not increase the port speed to 921600 bps (to do so, the modem processor must have a minimum cycle of 25 MHz, see manufacturer’s specifications). Select the desired speed and accept.
